Your Nanaimo Clippers have added defenseman Andrew Brown to the blue line for the 2023-24 season!
Hailing from the hockey-rich town of Oakville, Ontario, Andrew has established himself as a strong and reliable prospect within the sport. With a 5’11” frame, Brown weighs 165 lbs. He brings a high level of hockey IQ combined with exceptional instincts, making him formidable for on the blue line.
Nurtured through his development with the Oakville minor hockey system, Andrew has a deep-rooted passion for the game which has allowed him to hone his skills, earning him a selection in the 15th round of the 2021 OHL Priority Selection Draft.
Following his draft year, Brown made an immediate impact at the Junior A level, joining the Oakville Blades of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL). It didn’t take long for him to make his mark as he quickly became an integral part of the Blades’ roster and was named Captain in his sophomore year.
Despite missing the playoffs last season, Andrew still tied for the ranking of 15th in points by a defenseman across all 21 OJHL teams with 9 goals, 27 assists, and 36 points through 52 games. This outstanding performance earned him recognition as an OJHL First-Team All-Prospect.
Andrew describes himself as a smart, 2-way player who likes to jump in on the rush and make offensive plays. He also takes pride in his ability to shut down opponent’s top players. When asked about joining the Nanaimo Clippers, Andrew expressed his excitement, “Nanaimo has a great reputation for developing players, and I’m thrilled to be a part of this organization.” Reflecting on his time in Oakville, Brown added, “Playing in Oakville allowed me to grow all aspects of my game. I played a ton of minutes in all situations.”
