The Clippers went 1-1 last weekend with a thrilling 2-1 overtime win over the Bulldogs and a hard fought game that went the way of the Victoria Grizzlies 3-2.

Friday’s game was a tight defensive battle that went down to the wire in overtime until David Melaragni netted the winner.

The game Saturday featured two power play goals for each team, but a shorthanded goal by the Grizzlies in the second period was a difference maker in a narrow loss.

This weekend the Clippers play their first stretch of three games in three days..

It starts with a rematch of a game September 30 against the Vernon Vipers.

Vernon won that game 4-3 in the final minute on a night when they cashed in on the power play four times in ten chances.

Saturday Nanaimo visits Salmon Arm.

The ‘Backs are below .500 to start the season but are always dangerous in their own building.

The trip ends in West Kelowna on Sunday afternoon when the team faces former Clipper Matt Kowalski.

It’s been a stellar start to the year for the Warriors so the Clippers will have to fight off fatigue and dig deep to take points out of Royal LePage Place.

Parents weekend is on the horizon when the players return home.

The families of the players will be recognized at home games on October 21 against Coquitlam, and October 22 versus Prince George.

Nanaimo’s only other home game in October will be on Wednesday October 25 against the Grizzlies.
