Clippers Sign Young Talent Jack Edwards: A promising Addition to the Team

In a move to bolster their roster with fresh talent, the Nanaimo Clippers have signed 17-year-old forward, Jack Edwards. Jack Edwards comes to the island from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and brings an impressive track record and potential to the team. Standing 5’11” and weighing 168 lbs, he is set to make his mark in the BCHL.

Born with an innate passion for the game, Edwards has been honing his skills since a young age. Known for his agility and scoring ability, he showcased his talents with the Pittsburgh Penguins 16U team during the 2022-23 season. In 51 games, Edwards recorded an impressive 29 goals and 24 assists, totalling 53 points.

Edwards was also drafted in the 7th round (101st overall) by the Lincoln Stars during the 2022 USHL Futures Draft. During the 2022-23 season, he had the opportunity to play 2 games with the club which provided a glimpse of what’s needed at the next level. “You’ve got to earn your ice. The guys are bigger and faster. It’s shown me I need to get stronger to be effective at higher levels,” Jack said when discussing his games in the USHL.

By acquiring young players like Edwards, the team looks to continue their sustained success of developing athletes to exceed at this level and beyond. Edwards possesses an arsenal of skills that can contribute to the team’s success. When asked about his game, Jack said, “I’m a strong two-way player and reliable in my own zone. That being said, my shot is my greatest strength.”

The Clippers organization is excited about the potential Edwards brings to the team and the impact he can make for our team. Jack hits the ice with his fellow teammates on September 22 in the Clippers’ home opener vs the Cowichan Valley Capitals.
