CLIPPERS GET LATE WINNER, BEAT VICTORIA 4-3

The Clippers finished a three game set with the top two teams in the Island Division and took five out of six points.

Wednesday night Nanaimo came out on top of a 4-3 decision against the Victoria Grizzlies.

They started their three game set against Victoria last Friday with a 3-3 tie, they won 4-3 against Powell River in overtime Saturday, and the latest result leaves the team three points behind the Grizzlies for the division lead and just one point back of the Kings for second place.

The teams traded goals in the first period of Nanaimo’s 50th game of the regular season with Jamie Rome netting the ice breaker for the Grizzlies before Parker Colley responded for Nanaimo.

Rome put Victoria up 2-1 with a power play marker in the second period, but Brady Lynn and Lucas Vanroboys countered to give the Clippers a 40 minute lead.

TJ Friedmann tied the game early in the third period but Clippers captain Jamie Collins roofed the game winner with just over a minute to go to give Nanaimo the victory.

The final shots finished 39-29 Nanaimo with Taz Burman getting the win over Zach Rose.

Victoria went 1/4 on the man advantage while the Clippers finished 0/6.
