CLIPPERS OFFENSE CLICKING IN 8-5 WIN OVER COWICHAN VALLEY

The Clippers have built up a three game winning streak after an 8-5 win at home against the Cowichan Valley Capitals.

Josh Bourne led the way for Nanaimo with three goals and an assist, and the Clippers never trailed in the game.

It was 3-1 after one on goals by Lucas Vanroboys, Bourne and Jordan Wharrie.

Marshall Skapski replied for the Capitals.

Nanaimo built up a 7-2 lead after 40 minutes in a period where Bourne completed his hat trick.

His second goal was a true highlight reel marker, an individual effort right off a faceoff that he won and then he drove to the net to score.

Brad Belisle and Preston Brodziak also scored for Nanaimo in the second, while ex-Clipper Troy MacTavish notched a goal for Cowichan.

The Capitals cut into the lead in the third period with two goals from David Laroche and another from MacTavish.

Nanaimo clamped the game down with a David Melaragni tally in the late going to put the game on ice.

Of note for the Clippers Jake Harris played his first game since January 3rd and recorded one assist in the victory.

The Clippers outshot the Capitals 42-22 on the night with Taz Burman getting the win over the goaltending tandem of JJ Pichette and Michael Corson for the visitors.

Both teams had a pair of power play markers with Nanaimo getting six chances to Cowichan’s seven.
