NANAIMO, BC — May 12 — The Nanaimo Clippers are proud to announce that Owen Davies has committed to continue his hockey and academic career at Queen’s University, where he will suit up for the Queen’s Gaels men’s hockey program in U SPORTS.
Davies has been an important part of the Clippers’ group, bringing a mature, competitive, and reliable presence to the lineup. His strong two-way game, physical edge, and leadership qualities have made him a valued contributor both on and off the ice throughout his time in Nanaimo.
“We’re excited that Owen has decided to come to Queen’s, as we know he had many options,” said Queen’s Head Coach Brett Gibson. “We want players with high character who come from winning programs. We feel Owen’s time in Nanaimo and this playoff run will help make the transition to U SPORTS that much easier for him.”
Clippers Head Coach and General Manager Colin Birkas praised Davies for the impact he has had on the organization.
“Owen plays a mature two-way game with bite, and he has been a massive contributor to our program both on and off the ice,” said Birkas. “He is a very popular teammate, a high-character person, and someone we are excited to follow as he begins his university hockey career.”
Davies’ commitment continues the Clippers’ tradition of helping players move on to the next level; the organization’s development-focused environment provides players with opportunities to grow as athletes, teammates, and leaders.
