The Clippers continue to have all the answers in Duncan this season.
Nanaimo is 3-0 at the Island Savings Centre, and after Saturday’s 5-2 win they have a 4-1 record in the overall season series.
A beautiful three way passing play gave Nanaimo a 1-0 lead late in the first as Yanni Kaldis and Corey Renwick set up Charlie Borek.
In the final minute the Capitals Patrick Geary tied the score on a breakaway.
Neither team was able to beat the Capitals Storm Phaneuf or the Clippers Evan Johnson in the second period.
Early in the third Matt Hoover gave the Clippers a 2-1 lead by banging home a loose puck, but then Kade Kehoe tied it from in close.
Hoover’s second of the game on a power play gave Nanaimo a 3-2 lead and Spencer Hewson provided some insurance with a wrist shot from the right side 23 seconds later.
Nolan Aibel scored an empty netter to wrap up the 5-2 victory.
The final shots finished 39-38 for Cowichan with each team going on the power play six times.
Saturday’s Three Stars were 1) Matt Hoover 2) Patrick Geary 3) Yanni Kaldis
The Clippers will go after a fourth consecutive win Sunday when they host the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
Salmon Arm won their previous meeting 7-4 back on October 10th.
