Liam Visram Traded to Merritt Centennials

The Nanaimo Clippers have traded 20-year-old defenceman Liam Visram to Merritt Centennials for future considerations. Visram has played part of two years in the Clippers program for a total of 51 games. Previous to that, he played for the Delta Ice Hawks for two seasons in the PJHL (Junior B).

Darren Naylor, Vice President and Head Coach commented; “I have known Liam for quite a few years and he is a great teammate and very likable young man. I’m sorry to see him go but the reality of Junior A hockey is you can only have a certain number of 20-year-olds and we had a surplus of 20s coming back from last year’s season. We had to make a tough decision here and this is one that was very hard to make because Liam is a great teammate. We will definitely miss him on and off the ice.”

Colin Birkas, Associate Coach and Head of the Defence core added; “I’m very disappointed that we couldn’t keep Liam for this coming year but we found him a good home in Merritt. He was definitely slotted into our top four defence pairing this year but when push came to shove, we needed to open up a 20 spot because we had an elite level WHL 20 year-old forward agreeing to come to our team this year and we simply couldn’t pass that up. Merritt is getting a beauty. He’s going to have a great season this year in the BCHL.”

The Nanaimo Clippers thank Liam Visram for his contribution to the program and wish him the best in his pursuit of his hockey dream.
