Clippers sign Baxter Anderson

The Nanaimo Clippers have acquired 20-year-old left-wing Baxter Anderson from the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL. He was drafted in the 4th round 83rd overall by Medicine Hat Tigers in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft and after being a point a game player in two Major Midget seasons, he moved on to the WHL and accumulated 172 games with Medicine Hat over 4 seasons in a defensive role.

Darren Naylor commented, “Baxter is a player I am familiar with after coaching him as a 4-year-old in Aldergrove Minor Hockey and in the B.C. Pirates spring program for many years. Baxter is a great skating fierce competitor with a very high hockey IQ. Baxter plays a 200 feet game who, when given a chance, can put up offensive numbers. Baxter is an elite level face-off expert who will be counted on to win key draws through the season.”

Wes Mussio, President and Owner of the Clippers added, “I have known Baxter when he first arrived at the Burnaby Winter Club. He was easily the hardest working, 2 way forward at the BWC. Simply put, Baxter is the kind of character player that teams win championships with. He is a player that we protected on the WHL list for over a year despite there being some very good 2000s that have become available from time to time. He is a key addition to our crash and bang forecheck and our PK. I am pretty sure he will also chip in offensively as well.”
