Clippers win in overtime 3-2 over Capitals

It was hard to find a seat in Frank Crane Arena on Friday night as over 2,600 people packed it to cheer on the Nanaimo Clippers to a 3-2 overtime win over the Cowichan Valley Capitals to remain first in the Island Division.

The Clippers would kick things off in the third period at 5:22 with a goal from Tim Washe assisted by Josh Kagan and MacKenzie Merriman, however the Capitals would add two goals to head into the locker room up 2-1.

It took over a period and a bit before the Clippers managed to tie it up with a beautiful point shot by Aiden Hansen-Bukata at 13:30 in the third period assisted by Josh Bourne and Tyler Williams. That goal would send the game to overtime.

At 2:21 in overtime Captain Ethan Scardina would get a breakaway to end the game and send the fans home happy!

Next up the Clippers head to Cowichan, Saturday January 4th for a 6:00pm game.
