The Clippers won their home opener 4-2 over the Victoria Grizzlies on Friday.
Brendan Shane opened the scoring when he converted a cross ice pass from Kale Bennett.
Matt Hoover beat Matthew Galajda in the first minute of the second period to put Nanaimo up 2-0.
They took that lead into the third period when Sheldon Rempal buried a first minute power play goal to put the Clippers up by three.
Victoria got on the board with a 5 on 3 power play when Cole Pickup snapped a shot past Jonathan Reinhart.
Then the teams traded goals with the Grizzlies playing with six attackers.
First Alex Peck tipped in a loose puck to close the gap to 3-2, but Spencer Hewson’s empty netter sealed the Nanaimo victory.
The Clippers outshot the Grizzlies 41-26, with Nanaimo going 1/5 on the power play and Victoria finishing 1/4.
