The Clippers got back in the win column with a 4-2 win over the Chilliwack Chiefs on Sunday afternoon.
They got off on the right foot in the first period with a goal by Matt Creamer, who put home his first BCHL goal to give Nanaimo a 1-0 lead after one.
Sheldon Rempal had a pair of power play goals in the second to put the Clippers up 3-0 before the Chiefs Captain Jordan Kawaguchi made the score 3-1 converting on the doorstep in front of Jonathan Reinhart.
In the third the Chiefs got close on a shot from the slot by Mitch Skapski, but Rempal beat Matteo Esposito in close to cap off his hat trick and ensure he would end the weekend as the BCHL scoring leader with 28 points.
Earlier in that third period Chiefs starting goalie Aidan Pelino left the game after a heavy collision with Corey Renwick.
Renwick was assessed a major penalty on the play.
Chilliwack outshot Nanaimo 31-21 in the game and the power plays finished 2-4 for the Clippers and 0-2 for the Chiefs.
Sunday’s Three Stars were 1) Sheldon Rempal 2) Matt Creamer 3) Jordan Kawaguchi
