CLIPPERS VS CAPITALS – OCTOBER 23 – GAME SUMMARY

The first head to head meeting for the Clippers and Capitals was a convincing 7-2 win for Nanaimo.

It was a great start for the Clipppers with three goals in the first from Matt Hoover, Sean Buchanan and the first BCHL goal for Owen Hardy.

The Capitals closed the gap early in the second with two goals in the first 90 seconds.

First it was Kade Kehoe on a power play and then Jared Domin on a fortunate bounce.

Nanaimo went up 4-2 when Adam Pilotte tipped in his first goal as a Clipper, and Matt Hoover restored the three goal lead with a 5 on 3 power play goal.

The Clippers scored the only goals of the third when Sheldon Rempal beat Storm Phaneuf and after a goaltending change Zach Court wrapped up the scoring with a quick shot past Michael Lenko.

Nanaimo outshot Cowichan 38-25 with Jonathan Reinhart getting his eighth win of the season.

Both teams went 1/7 on the power play

Friday’s Three Stars were 1) Matt Hoover 2) Sheldon Rempal 3) Owen Hardy

The victory was the Clippers second in a row and third in four games, raising their record to 9-6.

Next up a home game Wednesday against the Victoria Grizzlies.

Nanaimo won the first head to head meeting 4-2 back on September 18th.
