Clippers Leave for Christmas Break on a High

The Nanaimo Clippers have their first two game winning streak since mid November after a 5-0 win in Trail on Saturday.

That performance followed a 6-4 win in Westside on Thursday.

After a scoreless first at Cominco Arena, Dan Correale streaked down the right wing on a short handed chance and buried his first as a Clipper at

2:43 of the second.

Ryan Wells wraparound goal increased the lead to 2-0 at 9:08.

It was all Nanaimo in the third as Mike Sones picked up his first goal with Nanaimo at 2:18 and then Andrew Gladiuk added two power play goals at 14:45 and 16:42.

Billy Faust stopped 23 shots for his third shutout of the season while Lyndon Stanwood stopped 32 of 37 Nanaimo shots.

The Clippers power play went 2/6 while the Smokies were 0/5.

Saturday's Three Stars were 1) Andrew Gladiuk 2) Billy Faust 3) Dan Correale

The game featured some familiar faces for Nanaimo as ex Clippers Tanner Clarkson, Connor Tiechko and Brent Baltus, who was an AP, all suited up for the opposition.

Of note Andrew Gladiuk finished the team's three game road trip with five goals in his last two games.

Next up for the Clippers road games in Coquitlam December 28th and in Langley on December 29th.

The next home game isn't until January 6th against Langley.
