Clippers Hand Kings First Home Loss

The league's best home team beat the best road team on Friday night, but Saturday the Clippers turned the tables with a 4-2 road victory over the Kings.
 
Powell River was 9-0-1 on home ice coming into the contest and the Clippers were 6-2-0-2 away from home.
 
After a scoreless first period Dan Schuler opened the scoring for the Kings on a turnover at 2:52 of the second, but just 14 seconds later Andrew Gladiuk tied it slipping puck through the feet of goalie Jamie Phillips.
 
Gladiuk gave the Clippers their first lead on a power play at 7:11 and Trevor Fitzgerald put them up by two with a shot from the slot at 13:24.
 
In the third period rookie Jesse Neher extended the lead to 4-1 from in close at 12:01 and Cohen Adair rounded out the scoring for Powell River at 12:52.
 
The Kings outshot the Clippers 38-29 on the night and on special teams Nanaimo was 1/6 while PR was 0/7.

After Saturday night's action the top five teams in the Coastal Conference are separated by three points – the Clippers are in fourth place.
