Clippers Hammer Kings

A night after the Nanaimo Clippers were frustrated with their effort in a 6-4 loss, they used the old adage "the best offence is a good defense" in a 7-1 win over the Powell River Kings. Goaltender Derek Dun made 37 saves and Kyle Kramer added 3 goals to lead the Clippers.

In the first period, the Clippers would get on the board with a goal by Trevor Fitzgerald who slapped a shot from the right side over the shoulder of the Kings goaltender. The game was tied up halfway through the period, before Brendan Taylor potted a loose puck to give the Clippers the lead that they would never lose.

In the 2nd period the Clippers would be buzzing for 19 minutes, and would get the stinging goals at 19:14 from Kyle Kramer and 19:40 on the Powerplay from Aaron Hadley.

In the 3rd the Clippers would come out flying in the opening minute, as Kyle Kramer scored at :36, before Matt Grant scored only 4 seconds later (possible league record?) to make it 6-1. Kyle Kramer would complete the hat-trick at 12:08.

Next up for the Clippers is a mid-week battle against the Alberni Valley Bulldogs on Wednesday. It is College Night at Frank Crane Arena, VIU Students are only $5! Many great prizes to be won! See you all at the rink.
