Clippers Explode for Seven Against the Bulldogs

The first period was all even with the Bulldogs opening the scoring at 7:58 on a goal from Jan Kalashnikov and Nanaimo countering at 8:47 and 15:19 with goals by Luke Gordon and Andrew Gladiuk.  
 
Bulldog Captain Trent Dorais ended the first period scoring at 16:01.
 
Nanaimo's offense exploded midway through the second period. 
 
Dan Correale scored the game winner shorthanded at 10:14 of the second period and then in the next seven minutes Brett Hartskamp, Mason Blacklock and Trevor Fitzgerald put the Clippers into a 6-2 lead.
 
Kyle Kramer capped the scoring at 3:04 of the third period with his team leading 25th goal of the season.
 
Kramer led all scorers with 1g 2a, Luke Gordon had a Gordie Howe hat trick with a goal, an assist and a fight and 11 different Clippers hit the scoresheet.
 
Nanaimo had 43 shots on the goaltending tandem of Nathan Alalouf and Matt Larose and the Dogs fired 26 at Billy Faust.
 
Niether team was able to score on the power play even though the teams combined for nearly 80 penalty minutes.

With the win and a loss by the Coquitlam Express the Clippers are 5 points behind the final Coastal playoff spot.
 
Nanaimo is in Cowichan on Saturday and then they visit Coquitlam next Wednesday as the team begins a stretch of 6 games in a row on the road.
