CLIPPERS END 2017 WITH A WIN IN COWICHAN VALLEY

2017 ended with a Clippers victory in Cowichan Valley.

The line of Jake Harris, Tristan Crozier, and Cal Babych combined 10 points in a 4-3 victory.

Harris scored the only goal of the first period with a wicked shot on a Nanaimo power play.

Then the teams combined for five goals in second.

The Capitals took the lead on markers by Andrew McCann, Azzaro Tinling, and former Clipper Tate Coughlin and the Clippers came back to tie it on a beautiful passing play finished off by Babych and the second goal of the night from Harris.

Tristan Crozier scored the only goal of the third to give Nanaimo the 4-3 win.

Both teams finished with five power plays and Jake Harris had the only goal on the man advantage.

Taz Burman got the win over Parker Swanson with the Capitals outshooting the Clippers 29-27.

The Clippers ended 2017 with a record of 20-13-2-3 for 45 points and a share of first place in the Island Division standings.

The Clippers open 2018 with a home and home series against the Bulldogs Wednesday in Port Alberni and Friday in Nanaimo.

The Clippers have the Bulldogs and Warriors at home this weekend – they haven’t played a game at Frank Crane Arena since December 8.
