CLIPPERS DROP GAME ONE OF THE PLAYOFFS 4-1 TO KINGS

The Clippers couldn’t get their game on track in the first game of the BCHL playoffs against the Powell River Kings.

Powell River won 4-1, largely on the strength of a three goal outburst in the second period.

The game was scoreless after one with Kings AP goalie Derek Krall and Nanaimo’s Taz Burman shutting the door.

In the second period Powell River scored twice in 48 seconds with Neal Samanski and Carter Turnbull putting the road team ahead.

Josh Coblenz scored on a tip in late in the second to give the Kings a stranglehold on the game.

A fluke goal by Kevin Obssuth put Powell River up 4-0 before David Silye ripped a shot from the slot for the Clippers only goal of the night.

The final shots finished 33-32 for the Kings with neither team connecting on the power play.

The opportunities on the man advantage were four to two in Powell River’s favour.

Game two of the series goes Saturday night at 7pm at Frank Crane Arena.
