Caps get Kramer’ed

The Nanaimo Clippers started the day announcing their new acquisitions, and finished with a veteran player dominating the opposition for a 7-2 victory over the Cowichan Valley Capitals.

Kyle Kramer, in his 203rd Regular Season game as a Clipper, the most all-time, would score 4 times and add an assist to pace the team. Garrett Brandsma in his first Jr. A game of the season would bury a partial breakaway at 3:07 from another newcomer Corey Renwick and also Greg Fraser.

The 2nd period started with Cowichan tying the game up, before Kyle Kramer scored on the Powerplay.  Aaron Hadley and Colton Dahlen picked up the assists. Kramer would add his 2nd and 3rd goals to complete a natural hat-trick at 14:51.  Taylor Grobowski would score at 1:15, before Cowichan made it 5-2 at 4:21. Trevor Fitzgerald would get into the goal column at 6:42 from Kramer and Chris Rygus, who finished with 2 assists. At the 10:00 mark, the Kramer night would finish with his 4th of the night.

Derek Dun made 34 saves to pick up the win. The Clippers head down island tomorrow night to take on the Capitals once again. Next home action is Friday January 18th against the Vernon Vipers.
