Bulldogs “Dun” for

In a game with some weird bounces, two teams that aren't used to Wednesday games put on a good show at Frank Crane Arena. The difference maker in this game was Derek Dun in the Clippers goal, with 41 saves, including a couple huge glove saves in the 3rd period. Derek was solid all night with his pads as well, stopping many pointblank attempts and rebounds.

On the scoring front for the Nanaimo Clippers, Trevor Fitzgerald would get the opening goal at 15:30 of the first on the Powerplay. Reid Sturos and Chris Rygus added assists. Just over 2 minutes later, Kyle Kramer would finish a 3-shot play after Trevor Fitzgerald would get originally stopped, then Reid Sturos stopped on the rebound, before Kramer finally put it in the net for a 2-0 lead after 1.

In the 2nd the Alberni Valley Bulldogs would get within 1 on a goal by Evan Tironese. The Clippers were resilient once more as Mason Mitchell would get a lead pass from Matt Grant and bury it past Jay Deo at the 13:45 mark of the 3rd. Chris Rygus would also draw an assist on the goal.

The 3rd period would see no scoring, and shots were even at 13 apiece. Derek Dun was the better of the two goalies in the 3rd, as Alberni Valley had better scoring chances.

Next home action for the Nanaimo Clippers is Friday against the Trail Smoke Eaters, and Sunday at 3 pm against the Merritt Centennials. Get your tickets Thursday or Friday at the Beban House office between 11am and 5pm, or online @ www.nanaimoclippers.com
