Nanaimo vs Powell River – February 19 Game Summary

The Clippers quest for a second straight Island Division title ran into a road block Friday against the Powell River Kings.

Nanaimo lost 4-0 to the Kings, narrowing their lead atop the Island Division to four points.

Powell River scored a pair of goals late in the first period as Austin Kamer and Nick Halagian scored 32 seconds apart.

In the second period Jonny Evans scored on the power play and Kyle Betts scored the final goal of night with four minutes left before the intermission.

Jeff Smith made 28 saves for for the shutout and Evan Johnson made 26 stops for the Clippers.

Powell River went 1/5 on the power play while Nanaimo was 0/4.

These same two teams play at 6pm on Saturday with Nanaimo once again having a chance to clinch the division.

The Clippers will also welcome leading scorer Sheldon Rempal back into the fold after his two game suspension.
