Abstract: 

The Nanaimo Clippers Hockey Club is a Junior A hockey team operating in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) and are seeking to fill a key role within our organization. The title of the position will be Director of Ticketing and Media Services. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Business Operations as well as the Hockey Operations and Ownership Group with a focus on ticket sales initiatives/strategies including season tickets, groups and game night sales, as well as maximizing ticket revenue in a COVID-19 related limited spectator environment. In addition, the successful candidate will represent the Clippers’ organization as a primary contact for fans in the office and in the community while working with the Director of Business Operations to generate initiatives geared at building the Nanaimo Clippers’ brand. This role requires non-traditional hours during the Hockey Season (late August to April) so working hour flexibility is a must. The salary will be dependent on experience and also, on the versatility of the candidate to work within secondary areas of the business that will provide a positive impact on the Clipper’s bottom line. Passion for the community and ice hockey will be an asset in this role as this position will also offer the candidate a unique opportunity for career development within the Sports and Entertainment Industry.

Rough Scope OF Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the ticketing system. Experience with Igniter ticket software is an asset; 
  • Oversee all Sales, Service, Operations, Reporting and Reconciliation for this portion of the business which includes Clippers
  • Season Tickets, Game Day and Special Events Ticketing; Secure rental of luxury box; 
  • Ability to train box office staff and front office volunteers for Game Day; 
  • Assist the Director of Business Operations on brand development and community engagement initiatives;
  • Manage social media and website content creation; 
  • Assist all departments on Game Day event management; 
  • Help maintain a culture that is focused on a high standard of customer service; 
  • Act as a higher point of contact for all elevated customer service occurrences on Game Day; and 
  • Other duties as required. 

Qualifications/Skills: 

  • Experience with Igniter ticket software is an asset; 
  • Prior sales experience; 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; 
  • Knowledge of event marketing, promotions, and advertising; 
  • Experience in marketing / advertising / social media, specifically focused on leveraging social media to drive engagement, growth and business results is expected; 
  • Knowledge of social media channels / tools / etc… is required; and 
  • Positive attitude and the ability to display consistent initiative that reflects creative and innovative thinking. 

Compensation: 

  • Dependent on experience; 
  • 2-3 weeks annual Vacation; 
  • Employee Benefit package (after 3 months); and 
  • Commission structure on ticket revenue
