Highly Touted Defenceman Anthony Biakabutuka Joins Nanaimo

The Nanaimo Clippers have made a significant addition to their defensive lineup with the signing of left-shot Anthony Biakabutuka for the 2024-25 BCHL Season.

Currently representing the Salisbury School of the USHS-Prep League, Anthony was originally born in Longueuil, Quebec. His talents have been showcased on the scoresheet, with his season point total amounting to 22 in 27 games, including 7 goals and 15 assists. As an imposing figure on the ice, Biakabutuka stands at 6’3” and weighs in at 194 lbs. 

A natural leader, Biakabutuka serves as captain of the Salisbury School team, demonstrating his ability to inspire and motivate his teammates both on and off the ice. His commitment to excellence has earned him a commitment at the College of the Holy Cross for the NCAA’s 2025-26 Season.

Head Coach and General Manager, Colin Birkas, expressed his enthusiasm about Biakabutuka’s arrival and the impact he will make on the team. “Anthony is just scratching the surface on how good of a player he’s going to be. It was quite competitive in acquiring his services. We're very happy he chose Nanaimo,” Birkas remarked.
