Irwin who hails from Victoria, BC came to play for the Nanaimo Clippers as an Affiliated Player for three games in the 2004-2005 Season where the following season he signed on as a full time player and played for three seasons.

In his time as a Clipper he was a leader on and off the ice and while in 175 games he posted 111 points while wearing the ‘C’ on his jersey.

From the Clippers uniform Irwin went onto play two season with UMass followed by time in the AHL before making the jump to the NHL. In the NHL he has played for the San Jose Sharks, Boston Bruins and now he is in his third season with the Nashville Predators.
