Grizzlies Claw Back to Beat Clippers in OT

For the sixth straight game Nanaimo scored the first goal.

In fact in Wednesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Grizzlies the Clippers went up 2-0 on first period goals by Kyle Kramer and Colton Cyr.

The lead was extended to 4-0 in by the end of the second period as Kramer bagged two more goals to complete the hat trick.

Entering the third period that big lead appeared safe but the Grizzlies had battled back from 6-1 to lose 8-6 and from 6-1 to lose 7-4 in earlier head to head meetings.

This game was no different, first it was Jarryd Ten Vaanholt with two and then Wade Murphy with a pair and the Grizz forced overtime.

Early in four on four Mike Moran capped the comeback for the Grizzlies as he broke in off the right wing and stuffed the puck in behind Clipper goalie Billy Faust.

The loss dropped the Clippers to 3-2-0-3 and a disappointing 0-3 in OT this season.

Victoria grabbed their second win in a row thanks to the big line of Murphy, Ten Vaanholt and Myron who combined for 11 points in the final frame.

On special teams the Grizz were 1/8 and the Clips went 0/4.

In goal Nanaimo's Billy Faust faced 34 shots while the Grizzlies Jaimie Tucker saw only 18.

Wednesday's Three Stars were 1) Ten Vaanholt 2) Kyle Kramer 3) Wade Murphy.

These same two teams battle on Sunday at 3pm at Frank Crane Arena.
