Dave Liffiton brought on to bolster Coaching Staff

The Nanaimo Clippers announced today that Dave Liffiton has joined the Nanaimo Clippers as interim Coach, effective immediately. Bob Beatty and Tyler Gow will continue in their roles as Associate Coach and Assistant Coach, respectively. The trio have successfully worked together previously.

Liffiton’s familiarity to the Clippers’ community comes from his time as a skills development coach throughout the 2021-22 season before joining the team full-time as an Assistant Coach ahead of the 2022 playoffs. He was an integral part of the coaching staff during the team’s 12-game win streak which led the team to the Fred Page Cup Championship. Since relocating to Calgary in the offseason he has continued to work with the Clippers during the 2022-23 season as an advisor and coach with a focus on player development.

Liffiton brings a wealth of experience to the position, having played professionally for several years, including time spent with the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche and New York Rangers. Liffiton stated, “I’m excited to be back with the Clippers and in particular to be back with the players. The exciting run we had last year was made more special for me when I saw how the team came together at the most critical time of the year. Working with Bob and Tyler, I’m hoping we can go one step further this year.”

Managing Partner of Northern Lights Hockey Canada, Brad Kwong added: “Dave is a knowledgeable and experienced coach who has worked with the Clippers previously and who has a great rapport with the players and staff. We are confident that the trio of coaches we have in place will be instrumental in leading our Clippers players in their quest for a BCHL Championship.”
