Clippers Win Three in a Row

The Nanaimo Clippers now have a share of the Conference lead after a 2-1 overtime win against Cowichan on Friday night.

In many ways the game mirrored the Powell River game on Wednesday.

Once again the game was scoreless after one and it looked as though that would continue through the second until the Caps scored a goal on the power play credited to Steven Iacobellis at 18:26.

But before the period ended Luke Gordon buried his second goal in as many games when he was set up in front by Andrew Gladiuk with only nine seconds left in the period.

Another scoreless period in the third as Billy Faust and the Caps Brady Rouleau matched each other save for save.

Just 15 seconds into OT Kyle Kramer scored his team leading 16th of the season after some great spade work by Captain Trevor Fitzgerald to give the Clippers their third straight win.

Nanaimo outshot Cowichan Valley 31-18 but the Capitals won the special teams battle going 1/6 versus Nanaimo's 0/5.

The three stars were 1) Kyle Kramer 2) Brady Rouleau 3) Josh Phillips

In a major log jame atop the Coastal standings Nanaimo, Cowichan and Surrey all have 27 points to lead the way.

The Clippers host Coquitlam on Sunday before meeting up with their rivals from Duncan again on Wednesday night.
