The Clippers went 2-1 last week with a sweep of the Bulldogs and a hard fought one goal loss to West Kelowna.
In Wednesday’s 5-2 win over Alberni Valley the line of Josh Bourne, Brad Belisle, and Lucas Vanroboys led the way with eight points, then on Friday night it was the line of Tristan Crozier, Cal Babych, and Preston Brodziak who were key with eight points of their own in an 8-3 home ice win.
Saturday’s contest against the Warriors was tight throughout with neither team having more than a one goal lead.
West Kelowna eked out a win despite the Clippers outshooting them 47-24.
This week is keyed by two massive divisional games with first place implications.
Tuesday the Clippers travel to Victoria to battle the Grizzlies.
Nanaimo is two points up on Victoria for first place in the Island Division standings.
The Powell River Kings are also just two points back and the Clippers host the Kings Saturday at Frank Crane Arena.
Another busy week wraps up with a visit on Sunday from the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
In the last few weeks Nanaimo has been bitten hard by the injury buy with Jamie Collins, Vincent Millette, Collin Heinold, Jake Harris, and Max Crozier all out of the lineup in Nanaimo’s last game.
Over the next few weeks those players should start returning to the lineup – that may even be as soon as this week.
