NANAIMO – Game 3 was another tight contest with the Powell River Kings taking it 3-1. They now have a 2-1 series lead in the best of seven Island Division semi final against the Clippers.

Nanaimo got off to a great start with a goal by Gunnar Wegleitner eight minutes into the contest. Minutes later Neal Samanski tied the game on a Kings power play.

The Clippers were adamant Powell River was offside seconds before the goal, but it was allowed to stand.

Samanski scored another power play goal midway through the second period on a rebound and Levi Glasman jammed home a loose puck a few minutes later.

Jordan Naylor and the Kings Mitch Adamyk played shutout hockey the rest of the way with the final shots finishing 26-21 for Powell River.

Nanaimo went 0/4 on the power play while the Kings finished 2/3.

Monday’s Three Stars were Neal Samanski (2 goals), Mitchell Williams (2 assists), and Zack Dallazanna (0 pts).

Game 4 of the series goes Tuesday at Frank Crane Arena, 7 p.m.

Country music star Aaron Pritchett will sing the national anthem.
