CLIPPERS COME UP BIG WITH 4-2 WIN IN PENTICTON

The Clippers have won two games in a row as they beat Penticton for the second straight year at the South Okanagan Event Centre.

Nanaimo won 4-2 in their lone visit this season to the SOEC this season.

The Vees scored first on their Teddy Bear Toss night when Taylor Ward tallied on the power play four minutes into the game.

In the second period the Clippers responded with power play goals by Brady Lynn and Max Crozier.

Lynn scored another goal on the man advantage in the third period to give Nanaimo a small cushion.

In the game’s final few minutes Penticton pulled goaltender Adam Scheel while on the PP and got a goal from Dakota Boutin.

But Parker Colley put the game on ice with an empty netter to secure the win.

The Clippers were outshot 38-25 with Taz Burman getting the win over Scheel.

On special teams Nanaimo went 3/4 on the power play and 3/5 on the penalty kill.

With the win the Clippers evened their season series with the Vees at 1-1 and improved their record against the Interior Division to 2-5-1-1.

After Saturday’s game Nanaimo is in a three way tie for the Island Division lead with Powell River and Victoria,

All three teams have 41 points.

The Merritt Centennials are the Clippers next opposition on Sunday afternoon at 2pm.

It’s the first head to head meeting this season, and Nanaimo’s final game until the post Christmas schedule resumes on December 29th in Powell River.
