Clippers Blank Kings

The Clippers played the perfect road game – at home – on Wednesday night.

Billy Faust had a 46 save shutout as Nanaimo beat Powell River 2-0.

There wasn't alot of room for scoring chances as the teams were locked at zero through 20 minutes, and then 40 minutes.

Finally a breakthrough as Luke Gordon scored at 1:23 of the third period on a low shot to the glove side. Kyle Kramer extended the lead to 2-0 at 11:23 with a bouncing dump in goal from just inside centre.

Faust was the story especially in a third period in which the Kings outshot the Clippers 18-4.

In his last nine starts Faust is 8-1.

The final shots were 46-21 with both teams going 0-6 on the power play.

With the victory the Clippers have evened the season series at 2-2-0-1, improved their home record to 4-4-0-1, and they sit one point back of first place Cowichan in the Coastal Conference standings.

Nanaimo is 8-2 in their last ten games which makes them the hottest team in the Coast.

The three stars were 1) Billy Faust 2) Chris Williams 3) Luke Gordon

Next up the Clippers host Cowichan at 7pm on Friday, the Caps took the only other meeting this season 4-3 in OT.
