CAL BABYCH COMMITS TO UNIVERSITY OF CALGARY

After beginning his Junior hockey career in Calgary, Nanaimo Clippers forward Cal Babych will return to there to get going with USports hockey.

The North Vancouver native will play for the Dinos at the University of Calgary starting in the coming season. His first taste of Junior came in the 2013-14 Western Hockey League (WHL) season when he suited up for the Calgary Hitmen.

Babych produced 12 goals and 24 assists for 36 points in 50 games for the Clippers this past season. The 6-foot, 185-pound forward spent time with a few different Junior clubs the last two seasons as he was in the WHL with Vancouver and Everett in 2016-17 as well as playing 38 games for the Coquitlam Express.

For his entire BCHL career, Babych put up 19 goals and 47 assists for 66 points in 88 games.

With the Dinos, Babych will join a USports program that competes in the Canada West Division along with UBC, Alberta, Mount Royal, Saskatchewan, Regina, Lethbridge and Manitoba.

Other former BCHL players on the Dinos roster are Matthew Greenfield, Brayden Sherbinin and Garrett Forster.
