It was a one man show for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs as they beat the Nanaimo Clippers 4-1 in the BCHL season opener.
Tristan Bukovec had all four goals, one in the first period and another three in second in a span of seven and a half minutes of playing time.
Matt Creamer jammed in Nanaimo’s only goal late in second period but the Clippers really never could get their offense on track. Brody Claeys got the win for the Bulldogs over Nanaimo’s tandem of Brendan Barry and Austen Roden. Barry gave up all four goals and took the loss. Alberni Valley was very opportunistic as they were outshot 40-22.
The Clippers went 0/5 of the man advantage while the Dogs were 2/7.

Nanaimo won’t have wait long for a rematch with another game against Alberni Valley on the road September 16th.
Before then the Clippers will host the Powell River Kings at 2pm on Sunday.
