CLIPPERS EARN POINT IN 3-2 OT LOSS IN PRINCE GEORGE

The Clippers have points in seven straight games.

But Friday in Prince George they didn’t get the two points they were looking for.

Nanaimo had two one goal leads but the Spruce Kings skated away with a 3-2 overtime win.

Jamie Collins opened the scoring with an early power play goal but Ben Poisson tied the score on a Prince George man advantage mid way through the first period.

Lucas Vanroboys gave Nanaimo the lead back with a quick shot from the slot early in the second period, but then Blake Hayward connected right off a faceoff in the Clippers end to send the game tied 2-2 into the final period.

Evan DeBrouwer and the Clippers Taz Burman were both perfect in net in the final period and through four on four OT.

Just 12 seconds into three on three overtime Ben Poisson scored his second of the game to give PG a 3-2 win.

The final shots were 28-26 for the Spruce Kings while Nanaimo went 1/3 on the power play and 1/2 killing penalties.

Friday’s Three Stars

1) Ben Poisson 2g

2) Evan DeBrouwer 24 saves

3) Taz Burman 25 saves

On Saturday the Clippers visit the Chilliwack Chiefs at 7pm, as their Mainland Division road trip continues.
