The British Columbia Hockey League announced this morning that the 2020-2021 season will begin on December 1st 2020 to align with the NHL’s start of their 2020-2021 season with the approval from the health authority.
The Nanaimo Clippers management have confirmed all players will be reporting to Training Camp as of September 8th which will be followed by an Island Division Exhibition Tournament in early October.
“I think in the back of our minds a delay to our season was inevitable, so we have been planning different models to make sure our players are back in Nanaimo in September.” said Tali Campbell, Clippers governor and general manager. “We still have lots of details to work out in the business end of things and we will continue to update our fans, sponsors and volunteers as things get finalized.”
All Junior A Hockey Teams are fully funded by their fans and sponsors in order to be viable every year and this year the Clippers know that will be the case even more, “Things are going to look different this year but one thing that will remain the same is we need our fans and our sponsors to continue to keep supporting so we are able to continue to operate in Nanaimo.” commented Wes Mussio, Clippers president and owner.
As details become available the Nanaimo Clippers will regularly be updating their social media channels.
