Jordan Naylor Commits to Concordia University

The Nanaimo Clipper’s starting goaltender, Jordan Naylor, has committed to Concordia University for the 2021-2022, having aged out of Junior A Hockey.

In the 2019-2020 season with the Nanaimo Clippers, Naylor played in 41 games with a sparkling 2.02 goals-against average and a save percentage of a staggering .935. He also had six shutouts. In the playoffs in 2020, he continued his excellent play with a .934 save percentage and a 2.25 goals-against average. The regular-season save percentage and shutouts is a top five performance by any goalie in the 59 year-old history of the BCHL and the top of any goalie in the 49 year-old history of the Clippers.

In the first half of the 2020-2021 season, Jordan continued his excellent play posting a .928 save percentage and 2.63 goals-against average in 15 games for the Clippers before the season was interrupted in November. In the second half of the season, he had a .913 save percentage and 3.64 goals-against average over 16 games.

Wes Mussio, owner of the Clippers, stated, “Jordan is a generational type goalie for the Clippers and I’m glad he is taking the next step to head to University for college hockey. He was absolutely lights out in the net for the Clippers throughout his three year career. With Jordan aging out this year, we will have a very difficult time getting a replacement starting goaltender that comes close to how good Jordan has been for us. He definitely has a bright future ahead in college hockey and likely pro hockey.”

Colin Birkas, Associate Coach added; “The Clippers’ coaching staff prides itself on making sure all of our graduating players have a commitment to college hockey. I’m glad to see Jordan receiving a commitment and is moving on to the next level. However, I’m sad to see him go because he will be very difficult to replace. He made my job, as the defensive coach, that much easier because he was always making timely saves and was always very dependable in the net. I am happy for Jordan and will be cheering him on at the next level.”
