CLIPPERS WIN EIGHT STRAIGHT, BLITZ CAPITALS 7-1

A perfect season series – that’s not easy to accomplish but the Clippers pulled it off against the Cowichan Valley Capitals on Friday.

They won all eight head to head matchups including winning 7-1 on home ice in the finale of their divisional schedule.

Not only that, the Clippers have won eight straight games overall – their longest winning streak of the season.

Lucas Vanroboys and Vincent Millette both had a pair of goals in Friday’s win with singles going to Brandon Marinelli, David Silye, and Preston Brodziak.

Taz Burman had a comparatively easy night, after giving up a goal in the game’s opening minute he played shutout hockey the rest of the way in a game where the Clippers outshot their opponents 50-16.

Ty Pochipinski had the only goal for Cowichan Valley and netminder Michael Corson took the loss in net.

The setback for the Capitals ensured they would miss the playoffs in the 2017-18 season.

On special teams Nanaimo finished the game 1/6 on the man advantage and 3/3 killing penalties.

Friday’s Three Stars

1) Josh Bourne 2a

2) Lucas Vanroboys 2g

3) David Silye 1g

Nanaimo has just two regular season games remaining, Wednesday at home to Chilliwack and on Friday versus the Surrey Eagles.
