The Clippers played the best two teams in the BCHL’s Island Division last week, going 1-2.

Wednesday in Nanaimo the Grizzlies won 4-1 in a tight game that got away from the Clippers in the third period.

Then Friday Nanaimo began a weekend series on Powell River.

The Kings won 4-1 on Friday in a game that saw the Clippers shorthanded nine times, with only three power plays to their credit.

Saturday was a different story, Nanaimo had nine power plays, scored four times on the man advantage, and got 47 saves from Taz Burman to win 4-0.

In doing so they became the first team to win in regulation time in Powell River this season.

This week the Clippers have two games, and just one of those is at home.

Friday the Trail Smoke Eaters visit Frank Crane with the second best record in the Interior Division and the BCHL’s top scorer Ross Armour.

On Sunday Nanaimo visits the struggling Cowichan Valley Capitals.

The Clippers beat the Caps 8-3 in their only other meeting this season and Cowichan has just two wins in 17 games this season.

With the calendar turning to November the Clippers finished October at 4-6. There are 11 games on the November schedule for Nanaimo.
