The red hot Clippers have built up an eight game winning streak thanks to back to wins over the Cowichan Valley Capitals last week.

Nanaimo won 4-2 in Cowichan on Wednesday thanks to some timely goaltending from Taz Burman and evenly distributed scoring, then on Friday Lucas Vanroboys and Vincent Millette each counted two goals en route to a 7-1 victory.

As the weekend came to a close Nanaimo was in third place in the Island Division. Powell River and Victoria each have 68 points and the Clippers have 66.

Powell River has three games remaining, while the Clippers and Grizzlies each have two left.

The Clipper games are both at home against Mainland Division clubs Chilliwack and Surrey this week on Wednesday and Friday.

Nanaimo has played Chilliwack three times already, both 3-2 wins.

The Clippers won in OT at the BCHL Showcase in September and then notched a regulation win by the same score in November.

Surrey was the last team to beat Nanaimo back on January 21st.

That game was a hard fought 1-0 decision with the Clippers outshooting the Eagles badly but not being able to beat goalie Mario Cavaliere.

Nanaimo will finish either first, second, or third in the Island Division standings and open the playoffs on Friday March 2nd.

The time and location of that game is still unknown.
