A perfect three for three week for the Nanaimo Clippers included wins over Alberni Valley, Wenatchee, and Merritt.

Wednesday night in Port Alberni David Melaragni was the overtime hero in a 4-3 win. Jake Harris tied the game at three in the final minute to set up the OT in a very hard fought road game.

On Friday Nanaimo looked to avenge a 10-3 loss to the Wenatchee Wild on January 20th. They did exactly that with a 4-1 win. Taz Burman was strong in net and the line of Harris, Tristan Crozier, and Lynn each had a two point game in the victory.

The Clippers wrapped up the week with a 3-1 win versus the Merritt Centennials. In that game Noah Featherstonhaugh Gowe and former teammate Austin Roden were both very strong. The game was 1-0 through 40 minutes until Nanaimo outscored the Cents 2-1 in the third to capture the win.

Overall the Clippers have won six straight hockey games and sit in third place in the Island Division.

Nanaimo is three points behind Victoria and two back of Powell River with four games remaining.

This week the Clippers put their 6-0 record on the line with a home and home series against Cowichan Valley.

It starts Wednesday in Duncan and wraps up on Friday night at Frank Crane Arena.

After that Nanaimo’s final two games are at home to Chilliwack and Surrey.

On February second the Clippers beat Cowichan Valley 8-5, in a game they led 7-2 at one stage. This time out they’ll be looking to clamp down on their division rivals and get all four points this week.
