“It’s a chance for the community to come together and work to provide accessible sport and recreation for youth in Nanaimo.” Isabella Kortbeek, Clippers’ Marketing/Sales representative noted this when discussing the Community Shop and Swap campaign. Part of the proceeds will benefit KidSports Nanaimo. “We want to ensure that kids can continue to participate in the activities they love while lessening the financial burden on parents. Keeping kids in sport and growing their love of hockey is a huge priority for the Clippers, we wanted to give the community a specific event for used gear and an opportunity to come together before the season starts.”
For the first time, the Nanaimo Clippers have partnered with Denni’s Dynamite Deals to provide a Community Shop and Swap campaign for used hockey equipment. The Clippers will be accepting donations of used gear at Frank Crane Arena on August 8th-12th from 10 am – 4 pm. On August 13th from 9 am – 4 pm at Denni’s Dynamite Deals, 499 Seventh St., Nanaimo, gear will be up for sale at a fair price for anyone interested or in need. The community event will also feature live music, food, and other booths from local sports teams. Donations for the Shop and Swap can still be accepted on August 13th. Denni’s will also be open to accept regular donations and purchases.
“Denni is a pillar of the Nanaimo Community, his yearly donations to local sports teams and ability to ensure everyone gets what they need, make him the perfect partner for this project,” Kortbeek added, “Denni is already so familiar with families looking for gear and we knew he would the perfect person to facilitate the resale.”
Not sure what can be donated? The Clippers will be accepting bags, skates, socks, jerseys, shoulder pads, gloves, elbow pads, pants, and any new equipment. At this time, we will not be accepting used helmets, used mouth guards, and used jock/jill.
