COLWOOD – The Clippers have still yet to solve the Victoria Grizzlies after a 6-0 loss on Sunday.

The game was even through 20 minutes with nobody able to score on Kurtis Chapman or Nanaimo’s Jordan Naylor. But early in the second Victoria scored twice in the first minute and a half to turn the game around. Nico Somerville and Marty Westhaver got the Grizzlies on the board.

After a timeout the Clippers took some momentum back and generated some great chances by Sammy Steele and Josh Bourne. But they failed to capitalize and then the Grizzlies came back with three more markers by the end of the period. Riley Hughes on the power play, Eddie Yan, and Carter Berger on the man advantage made the score 5-0.

Landon Pavlisin came in for the third period but Victoria added another goal, again on the power play, by Cameron Thompson to cap off the scoring.

The shots finished 38-33 for Nanaimo with the power plays at 0/3 for the Clippers and 3/4 for the Grizzlies.

Sunday’s Three Stars were Kurtis Chapman (38 saves), Jeremie Bucheler (3 assists), and Carter Berger (1 goal  2 assists).

Nanaimo is back on the ice Friday at home against the Alberni Valley Bulldogs, with a visit from the Powell River Kings on Sunday afternoon.
