CLIPPERS LOSE 4-1 TO ISLAND RIVAL GRIZZLIES

The Clippers had some short spurts in Wednesday’s 4-1 loss to the Victoria Grizzlies, but it wasn’t a full 60 minute effort.
A scoreless first period was highlighted by some great saves from Nanaimo starting goalie Taz Burman.
In the second, David Melaragni got the Clippers on the board by banging in a loose puck, but the lead was short lived.
The Grizzlies responded just over a minute later with a Lach Hadley goal and then added another from Cole Noble one minute after that to take a 2-1 lead to the locker room through 40 minutes.
Ethan Nother put home a power play goal in the first minute of the third period, and Lucas Clark snagged another power play goal to give the Grizzlies their third consecutive win.
Burman made 32 saves Nanaimo while Grizzlies starter Zach Rose stopped 30 shots.
The Grizzlies were 2/3 on the man advantage and the Clippers went 0/1.
Penalties were a huge story in the third period with Jake Harris getting a blow to the head major and a game misconduct, Brad Belisle and Tyler Maser picking up 10 minute misconducts, and coach Mike Vandekamp getting kicked out of the game as well.
