SALMON ARM – The Clippers dropped the second game of their three game road trip 4-2 to the Silverbacks on Saturday.
Nanaimo surrendered the only goal of the first period on a rebound effort by Salmon Arm’s Logan Mostat.
Jake Harris tied it with his league leading fifth power play in the first minute of the second period.
He finished off a three way passing play that included Cal Babych and Tristan Crozier.
Salmon Arm went ahead 2-1 on a Trevor Adams goal late in the second, but Jamie Collins muscled home a man advantage goal just a minute and a half later to even the score at two.
Perhaps the game’s defining moment came in the last minute of the second period when Salmon Arm’s Marcus Mitchell banged home a loose puck.
It appeared the referee’s whistle had blown the play dead, but the goal was allowed to stand and give the Silverbacks a 3-2 lead heading into the third.
A power play goal by Hudson Schandor gave Salmon Arm a 4-2 lead on a five minute major that saw Vincent Millette banished from the game.
The shots finished 38-26 for the Silverbacks with Bo Didur getting the win over Austin Roden.
Nanaimo finished 2/7 on the man advantage while Salmon Arm went 2/8.
