CLIPPERS BEAT RIVAL CAPITALS 2-1

The Clippers have taken five of the last six available points in the standings after beating Cowichan Valley 2-1 on Sunday.
In the opening period both goalies, Nanaimo’s Taz Burman, and Cowichan’s Adam Marcoux, kept the game scoreless.
Nanaimo broke through in the second with Tristan Crozier scoring on a three way passing play with his brother Max and Preston Brodziak in the opening minute.
Jamie Collins added a goal with a top corner shot mid way through the second frame which would prove to be the winner.
Ty Pochipinski tallied in the first minute of the third period to close the gap but the Clippers were able to hold on to the lead and get the win.
Nanaimo outshot the Capitals 29-25 and both teams were 0/2 on the man advantage.
The game had an excellent pace with only the four power plays during the course of the afternoon.

On Wednesday the same two teams will battle at Frank Crane Arena at 7pm.
Nanaimo will also host Powell River on Friday, and visit Alberni Valley on Saturday.
