CLIPPERS AP LOCAL ISLAND PLAYER CAGE NEWANS

NANAIMO – The Nanaimo Clippers have affiliated Qualicum Beach native Cage Newans.

“Cage is a dynamic young player with an NHL shot. Nanaimo fans will be excited to have a young local player involved with the Clippers”, said Coach Naylor.

The 15-year-old, 5’11”, 170-lb, forward, is currently playing with the North Island Silvertips of the BC Major Midget League. He is currently leading the Silvertips in scoring. After 14 games he’s scored 14 goals, has three assists and 14 minutes in penalties.

He played last season for the Delta Bantam Prep team of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League. In 30 games, Cage had 35 points (14 goals – 21 assists) and added 52 penalty minutes. He was first in team scoring during the regular season and led his club in assists.
