Nanaimo, BC – August 22, 2025 — The Nanaimo Clippers have announced a key change to their coaching staff. Assistant Coach Gaelan Patterson will be moving on to join the Vancouver Giants, and the Clippers are excited to welcome Henry Acres as the team’s new Assistant Coach.
General Manager and Head Coach Colin Birkas expressed his gratitude and excitement regarding the transition:
“It was an absolute pleasure working with Gaelan – I look forward to watching him climb the coaching ranks and have made a friend for life,” said Birkas.
Looking ahead to the newest addition, Birkas praised Acres’ international experience and strong player development background:
“Henry has a very impressive coaching background. He will bring a lot to the player development side. He has coached in Europe and meeting with him he has unique perspective on how to play as a unit. I look forward to working with him this season.”
The Clippers thank Gaelan Patterson for his dedication and contributions to the organization and wish him the very best in his continued coaching career. The team also extends a warm welcome to Henry Acres as he begins his tenure with The Clippers.
