April 9th Game Day Preview

Game four of the Island Division Pod season finds the Clippers playing the Cowichan Valley Capitals for a third time in a row, at 7 p.m. tonight. In the previous two games the Clippers won 5-2 and 2-0.

A couple of pleasant things in the first three games of the season has been the balanced scoring and the performance of our all-rookie fourth line. With scoring, 14 players have points and 11 have scored goals. Our rookie fourth line has accounted for 3 goals and 4 assists.

When asked if the team needs to improve, defenceman #53 Jack O’Brien responded, “There is always room for improvement. If you look at championship teams they don’t become winners over night. They have to constantly work together in order to become better. I think our 3 and 0 start is a great representation of who we are, but, in my opinion, we still have a lot more to prove.”

On having won the two previous games against Cowichan, Jack remarked, “As you play teams you learn a lot about them. Playing the same team twice back to back definitely helps. Cowichan is a hard nosed team. They forecheck hard and take the body all over the ice. They make you work for every inch. Our game plan has been successful so far so I don’t think we need to change too much. But In saying that, we cannot take them lightly. Beating the same team 3 times in a week is not easy and tonight will be a great challenge for our group.”
