CLIPPERS WINNING STREAK AT NINE, BEAT CHIEFS 4-1

The Clippers defeated the Chiefs 4-1 on Wednesday, setting up a three way tie for first place in the Island Division.

Nanaimo, Powell River, and Victoria all have 68 points heading into the final weekend of the regular season.

PJ Marocco opened the scoring for Chilliwack and the Chiefs took a 1-0 lead to the locker room after 20 minutes.

Nanaimo grabbed the lead in the second period with Cal Babych and Max Crozier both scoring on the man advantage.

Tristan Crozier scored the insurance goal in the third period before Brady Lynn put the game on ice with a late empty netter.

Taz Burman outduelled the Chiefs Daniel Chenard in net with Nanaimo outshooting Chilliwack 32-28.

The Clippers finished the game 2/4 on the power play and 3/3 on the penalty kill.

Nanaimo has now won nine games in a row with just a single game remaining in the regular season.

The red hot Clippers host the Surrey Eagles on Friday, and Nanaimo will open the playoffs on Friday March 2 – they just don’t know their opponent yet.
